AAC Championship: 5 2020 NFL Draft Prospects to watch
Perry Young is a tweener between safety and linebacker who is a big part of the Bearcats’ stingy defense. Young is the third-leading tackler on the team with 69 total tackles while also contributing one sack, two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), and three pass breakups on the season.
Youn’s size, or lack thereof, for the linebacker position makes his projection to the NFL a little harder, but smaller linebackers with coverage skills have started to find key roles in the pass-happy NFL. He is listed at only 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds, but he is naturally one of the more athletic linebackers in the conference at that size. He utilizes his athleticism well to make plays sideline-to-sideline while also being an asset in coverage.
Young had a solid game against the Tigers a week ago when he accounted for five total tackles and a sack. He probably would have liked to have made a few more impact plays in the game, however. Expect him to be key in slowing down the next guy on this list for Memphis as well as slowing down the explosive Tiger offense as a whole.
