47. Curtis Weaver. Edge. Boise St. 28. player. . Pick Analysis

The Patriots are a hard to team to figure when it comes to the draft. They’ve always done their own thing. The New England defense has been absolutely dominant this year, but they don’t really have a true pass rush specialist. They have a lot of sacks as a team, but they come from all over the defense.

Curtis Weaver had 13.5 sacks this season, and has 34 in his college career. He also has 47.5 tackles for a loss in that time. He’s fast off the line, and has strong hands, which should translate to the NFL.

15. . Pick Analysis. S. Alabama. Xavier McKinney. 29. player

A quarterback would make some sense here, but if they elect to pass on that, then adding to the secondary makes a ton of sense. They are 18th in the league in points per game allowed, and free agency could take a defensive back or two off the roster. Even if they retain them, adding another talented safety couldn’t hurt.

Xavier McKinney is a chess piece. He can play from multiple spots in the defensive backfield and play them well. He has good enough speed to play in coverage, but can play near the line as well. He might be the best safety in this class.

. Pick Analysis. Lucas Niang. player. 36. OT. TCU. 30

Both of the lines could use addressing in this coming offseason. On the offensive side, they are already not the best unit. They’re also set to lose right tackle Germain Ifedi to free agency. This leaves a big hole on an already sketchy line. Russell Wilson can’t continue to get sacked multiple times every game.

Lucas Niang is huge. At 6’7″ and 328 lbs, he has the kind of length that can’t be taught. He’s also surprisingly light on his feet. He should be able to handle both speed and power rushers off the edge with a little bit of refinement.
