2020 NFL Draft: Offensive linemen rising in postseason mock draft
By Jeremy Meek
It wasn’t long ago that a quarterback was nearly a sure thing for the Titans in this draft. However, with Ryan Tannehill playing so well, they can focus on improving a pass rush that needs help. They hit on Harold Landry in the draft, and adding an edge rusher on the opposite side gives them a nice 1-2 punch.
Yetur Gross-Matos has the raw skills to develop into a terrific pass rusher. He is quick to get off at the snap and has the ability to get around the edge and to the quarterback in a blink. He had 8 sacks in each of the past two seasons, and 33.5 tackles for a loss in that time.
With their second pick, the Jaguars need to address the offensive side of the ball. They have some nice players at receiver, but could use a player who could become a true number one on the outside. Regardless of who the quarterback is in 2020, he’s going to need weapons.
Laviska Shenault was expected to blow up in 2019 after recording over 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns the previous year. His numbers are down this season, but his combination of size, explosion, and hands still make him a first round player. He can do it all, even recording seven rushing touchdowns over the past two years. He’s a size/speed freak who will excel with the ball in his hands.
The Dallas Cowboys are puzzling to say the least. They have a talented roster, and should be running away with the NFC East. Instead, they’re under .500 and have some inexplicable losses. There are some pressing needs, but improving the secondary is probably the most pressing issue right now.
After last season, most analysts thought Grant Delpit would be a top ten pick. He still might, but he could also tumble down boards after a down 2019 in which his struggles tackling were front and center. Still, he’s an upgrade for Dallas, with plenty of talent and tremendous ball skills.
