Buffalo Bulls Players to Watch

Joey Banks, Safety

As stated in the intro, the Buffalo Bulls are a fairly young team. That means most of their best players are not even eligible for the 2020 NFL Draft. One player that is eligible is safety Joey Banks. He has solid size at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds and uses it well as a strong tackler on the backend of the defense.

In fact, Banks leads the Bulls with 76 total tackles on the season. He also leads the team with three interceptions while racking up 4.5 tackles for loss and one sack as well. Banks is a physical presence at safety and could carve out a role as a special teams ace in the NFL. He will most likely be added as an undrafted free agent after the draft, however.

Jaret Patterson, Running Back

Yes, this is cheating a little bit since Jaret Patterson is only a Sophomore and, therefore, is not eligible for the 2020 NFL Draft. That being said, Patterson is arguably the best player with the best chance of making an NFL roster off the Buffalo Bulls team. He has adequate size at 5-foot-9 and 195 pounds, but Patterson is very shifty and hard to bring down on contact.

Patterson has been key to the excellent Buffalo rushing attack of 2019. He surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the second straight season with 1,663 yards in just the regular season. That averages out to an impressive 135 yards per game. He has also scored an incredible 178 rushing touchdowns this season as well. While he is obviously an excellent rusher, Patterson also excels as a receiver out of the backfield. He is the fourth-leading receiver on the team with 209 receiving yards and one touchdown on the year. It will be interesting to see how Jaret Patterson develops and what his NFL prospects are once he is actually eligible.
