2020 NFL Draft: 2 key Seminoles contributors returning to Florida State
By Joseph Yun
Today, two key contributors of the Florida State Seminoles’ football team announced that they are not entering the 2020 NFL Draft.
Earlier this morning, Florida State received some shocking news about a pair of Florida State Seminole stalwarts and their draft status for the upcoming 2020 season. To say that new head coach Mike Norvell is off to a roaring start is a mild understatement as two key contributors will not be entering the 2020 NFL Draft.
Wide receiver Tamorrion Terry was first to declare that he would return for a redshirt junior season after producing 51 receptions for 1,023 yards and eight touchdowns during the 2019 season to date. Terry is an extremely gifted deep ball specialist that can take the top off of any defense and was clearly the Seminoles’ top receiving weapon for the past two seasons.
It was clear that he would have needed to return for the 2020 season as the receiver class in the upcoming draft is a loaded one. By returning, he can refine his route running ability to match his elite physical tools under the tutelage of widely acclaimed receivers coach Ron Dugans.
Terry will be the Seminoles’ top option in a retooling receiver room once again in 2020.

The second and most shocking returnee is Big Marvin Wilson as he was widely expected to declare for the draft after his true junior season ended with a hand injury. He is a former five star recruit that is next in the long line of former Seminole defensive tackle greats that once roamed in Tallahassee.
He elected to return for his senior season after posting numbers that would ultimately place him in the early rounds of the 2020 draft. Interim head coach and full time defensive line coach Odell Haggins was instrumental in bringing Wilson back to Florida State.
Despite the injury that prematurely ended his junior campaign, Wilson was seen at nearly every practice coaching and guiding his younger teammates. He could’ve just packed it in and got ready for the draft but he willingly chose to help the team. That’s leadership that will reflect well on him next season when scouts ask about him.
He has increased his level of production every season, finishing with 44 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks in just nine games in 2019.
If he declared, he would likely would have been a first round selection in April due to his size and athletic ability on top of the aforementioned off field intangibles.
The Seminoles are off to a great start under new head coach Mike Norvell’s administration and this news only reinforces that belief. He has built the staff with a solid mix of young and veteran coaches that will get after it in all facets.
There’s a coherent and simple plan under Norvell unlike the previous regime where Willie Taggart ultimately failed to cobble together even the most basic identity and plans for the future. It is night and day when you compare the two in terms of organization and the players have bought in.
