The 49ers officially captured the 1-seed, but they still have holes on the roster that need fixing; what will they do with limited picks in the 2020 NFL Draft?

After a huge win on Sunday against their NFC West rivals — the Seattle Seahawks — the 49ers clinched a first-round bye as well as the number 1-seed in the NFC. Despite being one of the better teams in the NFL, their roster still has several positions that need an overhaul.

So, of course, here’s a 7-round mock draft to help resolve some of the glaring issues on San Francisco’s roster.

1st Round

Pick Analysis. Florida. Scouting Report. Cornerback. CJ Henderson. 31. player. 42

The 49ers staff chose not to attack the secondary in last year’s draft because of their confidence in the group and they appeared to be correct in the first half of the season. However, as injuries started to accumulate both in the back-half and along the defensive line, the group started to show signs of struggle. In last night’s game, Akhello Witherspoon got benched in the 4th quarter and replaced by Emmanuel Moseley who looked decent, but decent isn’t enough.

In this mock draft, the 49ers go after the best cover corner in the draft outside of Ohio State’s, Jeffrey Okudah, and that’s CJ Henderson. Henderson got a lot of flack after the Miami game for his inability to tackle and rightfully so but has proven to be more willing as the year progressed. In Florida’s game against South Carolina, he led the team in tackles but also proved he was willing to fill gaps against the run, taking on lead blockers and forcing the traffic back inside.

Richard Sherman is still playing at an elite level, but he is aging and won’t be able to do it forever. Pairing the young budding star, Henderson with Sherman for the next couple years could make passing on the 49ers very difficult over that stretch.
