Top underclassmen yet to declare for 2020 NFL Draft
K’Lavon Chaisson, the versatile defender from LSU, has yet to declare for the 2020 draft, and will likely make his decison following the 2020 College Football Playoff Championship game.
Chaisson is a phenomenal edge rusher who utilizes his speed to get off the line quickly at the snap and wreak havoc for the opposing teams offense. He’s able to play as a down defensive lineman or standing up in a pass-rushing linebacker role. Not only has he done well as a rusher, though. Chaisson has been successful in just about any position LSU has put him in. Be it a zone coverage defender for the flat, a nickel defender, or anything else, Chaisson has succeeded at it.

After only playing in one game in 2018 due to a torn ACL, Chaisson has returned to the LSU defense on fire, with 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks this season. This includes possibly his best game of the year against Oklahoma, where he had 6 total tackles and sacked Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts twice in LSU’s 63-28 victory.
Chaisson is likely waiting until the conclusion of the LSU Tigers’ season before announcing his intentions to either stay in college or go pro. However, one still has to wonder that if LSU falls short and loses in the Championship game, would that be enough to sway his decision and make him return to school to try and win it all one more time?
