Where they left off in 2019

The 2019 season was not one to remember for the Miami Dolphins, but signs of growth, and an unprecedented amount of resources, have left fans optimistic for the future. Rookies Christian Wilkins, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Preston Williams showed flashes of brilliance, and could be legitimate building blocks going forward.

More from With the First Pick

Wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, the Dolphins overachieved in 2019. Yes, this roster possesses more holes than a pound of swiss cheese, but Chris Grier and the Dolphins have more than enough ammo to restock this team with talent in the 2020 NFL Draft.

With a league leading $90 Million in cap space and Fourteen draft picks; the Dolphins could begin their ascension this spring. Miami has an opportunity to change the narrative on the “Post Dan Marino” Dolphins, and Stephen Ross has entrusted Grier and Flores to build the team in their image.

The most important thing to accomplish this off-season is drafting the quarterback of the future. Acquiring a star quarterback is a franchise altering move; for Miami, this decision is a no brainer. After LSU’s Heisman trophy winning Quarterback, Joe Burrow, goes number one overall, to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Dolphins should, and will, move up from pick number five, and select Alabama quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.
