Round 1, Pick 3: Jeffrey Okudah |CB| Ohio State

With the third overall pick in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Jeffrey Okudah, cornerback, the Ohio State.

The Detroit Lions are getting a cornerback that will be a fantastic pair with Darius Slay or if the Lions decide to trade away Slay, Okudah is a cornerback that will be your number one guy for 10+ years. The Lions play the most man-to-man coverage than anyone in the NFL, so getting the best man coverage cornerback in this draft will really step up this defense a whole bunch.

More from With the First Pick

Jeffrey Okudah was by far the best coverage cornerback in all of college football last season, which is the only reason why the Lions would use this third overall pick on him than trading it to get future draft capital for years to come. The Lions are definitely are in the hot seat during this year’s draft which could really help them out for years to come, only if they can be smart and do what is best for the future of their team.

Round 2, Pick 35: Ross Blacklock |IDL| TCU

With the 35th overall pick in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Ross Blacklock, interior defensive lineman, TCU.

The Lions really needed to get an interior defensive lineman in either the NFL Draft or in free agency. The Lions fixed that team need in the draft instead of free agency. With the release of Damon “Snacks” Harrison, the Lions needed to fill that big hole that ‘Snacks’ used to fill.

The Lions are getting a 310-pound interior defensive lineman that just overpowers offensive lineman. The thing that stands Blacklock out from other defensive lineman is that he has outstanding hands that help him get great leverage on the opponents trying to block him. Blacklock is so strong and has great use of his hands that he just overpowers offensive lineman which helps him get great leverage on his opponents. Blacklock will fit exactly what the Lions are looking for on the defense side of the ball, which could make him into a faster and more productive pass rusher than Snacks Harrison.
