Round 5, Pick 149: John Simpson |IOL| Clemson

With the 149th overall pick in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft, the Detriot Lions select John Simpson, interior offensive lineman, Clemson.

More from Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have used all of their picks thus far on defense. They need to get Matthew Stafford offensive line help too much sure he is healthy. Stafford is coming off a back injury last season, you want to get pieces around Stafford to protect him. Detroit is gonna get a winner that played at Clemson that protected Trevor Lawerence for two seasons.

John Simpson is a very underrated player that I think could be a starter in the league in the next few years. Simpson was a winner all through college playing at Clemson, he does not like to lose. When I watch his play on film, I saw he had very heavy hands meaning he was able to push players backward with very little effort. Simpson has a very good combination of lower and upper body strength that helps him finish each play. With being so strong, he does not use the proper form sometime which gets him beat or defenders have stood him up. With a good coach, he could fix that in the matter of a season or two.

Round 6, Pick 182: Lynn Bowden |WR| Kentucky

With the 182nd overall pick in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Lynn Bowden, wide receiver, Kentucky.

The Detroit Lions need that flashy player that you can line up literally anywhere on the offensive side of the ball that the defense has to take account for on every single play. In Kentucky, Bowden played quarterback, wide receiver, and a little bit of running back at times. You can line Bowden anywhere on the field and the guy will make plays especially in the open field.

The thing that I think teams will love about Bowden besides his versatility between positions is that he is magical with the ball in his hands. When he played at Kentucky last year, he played quarterback for the most of the season and he just ran read-option the entire time. he would throw the ball no more than 15 to 20 times a game. The crazy part about that is his opponents would know what they were gonna do the entire game and most of the teams just could not stop him. Bowden is that good with the ball in his hands, which the Lions will fall in love with.

Round 7, Pick 235: JaMycal Hasty |RB| Baylor

With the 235th overall pick in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select JaMycal Hasty, running back, Baylor.

The Detroit Lions seem to always draft a running back in the later rounds, so why not stop in 2020! I feel like the Lions will love what JaMycal Hasty brings to the table, which is the scheme that will fit what the Detroit Lions want to run.

The thing that I think the Detroit Lions will love about JaMycal Hasty is that he a small but powerful runner. The Lions have Kerryon Johnson, who is their elusive runner that is the burner and the player that will catch passes out of the backfield. Hasty will be their third down and short running back and the player that will take the goal line carries. The Detroit Lions will find a diamond in the rough if they are able to draft Hasty all the way in the 7th round, which could get some Week 1 action.
