Round 1, Pick 16: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

The Falcons decided to part ways with cornerback Desmond Trufant before the start of the 2020 free agency period. As of now, the Falcons have Kendall Sheffield and Isaiah Oliver in the cornerback room. While both of those players are young and have potential, they are lower ceiling players than Fulton. The LSU standout has potential to be a true number one corner on an NFL team. A tandem of Fulton, Oliver, and Sheffield would be a great trio for the Falcons.

The way the board fell, the other players that would have fit the Falcons were gone. South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was off the board, as well as LSU pass rusher K’Lavon Chaisson. The Falcons should only be targeting defensive players in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. Their offense is full of talent and the defense needs serious work to complement their high powered offense.

On defense, Atlanta has high impact players on all three levels. Grady Jarrett is a force at defensive tackle. At linebacker, Deion Jones has all the makings to be one of the best at his position. On the back end, Keanu Neal is a thumper from the safety position. Atlanta needs to supplement these players with talent at the cornerback position. It is hard for players like Garett and Neal to shine when the cornerbacks are consistently getting beat.
