Wide Reciever will be addressed later than expected.

If the Colts don’t end up trading up for a quarterback, it is believed that they could look to bolster the receiver corps with one of their two second round picks. And for good reason. The passing attack clearly struggled most of the season, but especially when TY Hilton missed a few games due to injury. It didn’t help that last year’s second round pick, Parris Campbell, missed most of the season due to injuries as well. Zach Pascal enjoyed a bit of a breakout season last year, but he’s more suited for a possession receiver and complementary role.

More from With the First Pick

There are multiple factors that point to the Colts possibly waiting to address the position later than many fans and experts expect. First, this is an incredibly deep receiver class. The difference in talent between players at the position in the second round compared to the fourth round is very little. Second, Chris Ballard basically said as much in his pre-draft press conference. He all but said that they liked the depth of the class and thought they would still be able to get a very talented receiver in the fourth or fifth rounds.

He also still believes in the potential of a group made up of a healthy Hilton, Pascal, and Campbell. Don’t be surprised if the Colts address multiple other positions with their first few picks before picking a receiver.
