With the 24th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select University of Michigan center Cesar Ruiz.

The New Orleans Saints have been one of the most consistent Super Bowl contenders of the past handful of seasons. It seems like bad luck has done more to keep them from reaching the big game rather than a lack of talent. With Drew Brees returning for the 2020 season, the Saints will look to make another run at actually reaching the Super Bowl. They get him some added protection in the 2020 NFL Draft with the selection of Michigan center Cesar Ruiz.

The Saints have an excellent track record under Mickey Loomis. That is especially true when looking at the past five drafts. The 2017 draft was an all-time great one by New Orleans with Marshon Lattimore, Ryan Ramczyk, Marcus Williams, Alvin Kamara, Alex Anzalone, and Trey Hendrickson all being added that year alone. Some other key contributors drafted in recent years by New Orleans include Andrus Peat, Michael Thomas, Sheldon Rankins, Marcus Davenport, Erik McCoy, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

The Saints look prepared to be one of the best teams in the NFC once again as the roster returns virtually intact even before they added a talent like Emmanuel Sanders in free agency. New Orleans will obviously be looking to win big this year as Drew Brees’ career winds down. The Saints hope that Ruiz will help take them over the top and get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2009.
