Rookies can often be a tricky proposition when it comes to fantasy football. Guys selected in the 2020 NFL Draft will be no different.
Even high draft picks can take some time to acclimate to the NFL, meaning few fantasy players are prepared to take early-round risks on first-year players.
However, exceptions can be made when there is widespread confidence a rookie can produce instantly in their first season in the league.
Here we look at five such picks from this year’s 2020 NFL Draft who can be an immediate fantasy football stars.
There’s no guarantee that Burrow’s incredible 2019 season with LSU will translate into immediate success in the pros for the 2019 Heisman Trophy winner. However, the Bengals have a supporting cast that should help him thrive early in his career.

He has two talented pass-catching running backs in Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard and a receiving corps that could be one of the better groups in the league if all are healthy. A.J. Green is a seven-time Pro Bowler, Tee Higgins has the catch-radius and body control to be his heir apparent and Tyler Boyd is coming off his second successive 1,000-yard season.
Burrow, therefore, won’t lack for targets to spread the ball to in his first season and displayed the ability to do damage with his legs during his time with LSU.
While not the prototypical dual-threat quarterback, Burrow is in a position to rack up passing yardage by hitting his promising supporting cast of receivers and add further fantasy football value through designed quarterback runs and scrambles.
Much will depend on how a Bengals offensive line that struggled mightily last season performs. The return of Jonah Williams from a torn ACL that cost him his rookie season will help Cincinnati’s cause in that regard and, providing the protection improves, investing a later-round fantasy football pick in Burrow could prove an astute move, particularly in two-quarterback leagues.
