Scouting Report. WR. ASU. 42. Pick Analysis. Brandon Aiyuk. 2. player

Aiyuk could hardly be a more perfect fit for a Kyle Shanahan offense, given his ability to dominate with the ball in his hands after the catch.

In terms of his fantasy football projection, the concern for some may be his target share, as he joins an offense that relies heavily on running the ball and features the NFL’s premier tight end in George Kittle.

Last year’s second-round pick Deebo Samuel should continue to have a huge role, while Kendrick Bourne is a favorite target of Jimmy Garoppolo on third down and in red-zone situations.

Yet with Emmanuel Sanders leaving in free agency, the 49ers have 53 targets to replace from his 10 games with the team last season. Shanahan has already indicated a large portion of those targets will go to Aiyuk.

Shanahan, per 49ers.com, said of Aiyuk after the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft: “I think he has the mindset to be great and I promise you schematically we’re going to give him every chance to do that.”

A wide receiver being put in a position to succeed by Shanahan is a recipe for fantasy football success and, with what he can do after the catch, Aiyuk could put up consistently high points tallies as a rookie. If you play in a league that gives individual players points for return touchdowns, Aiyuk has added value.
