2020 NFL Draft: Thaddeus Moss doesn’t take too kindly to going undrafted
By Cory Kinnan
Seven rounds came and went in the 2020 NFL Draft as tight end Thaddeus Moss failed to hear his name called. The former LSU tight end will not soon forget it
The son of a Hall of Fame wide receiver, a national champion winning tight end. Yet despite this, LSU’s Thaddeus Moss failed to hear his name called in the 2020 NFL Draft. Seven rounds later, Moss decided to sign with the Washington Redskins, the best opportunity to land a roster spot after they parted ways with veteran Jordan Reed.
Washington must have felt lucky to land Moss after parting with Reed, and doing so without using a draft pick. While Moss’ tape shows great blocking ability and sticky hands, his lack of athletic ability and inability to separate downfield caught back up with the LSU tight end.
After transferring to LSU from North Carolina State after a significant knee injury while with the Wolfpack, Moss was then unable to test at the NFL Combine in order to dispute the rumors of his athletic ability due to a foot injury. His injury history and limited athletic upside more than likely were the reason he did not get drafted last month.

This, however, is not an event that Moss will soon forget:
"“Ultimately all I could ask for is the opportunity, but it was definitely a slap in the face… I put a lot of work in, years of football. We (LSU) went undefeated and won a national championship. I played my best ball in our biggest games, so I definitely felt like it was a slap in the face not getting drafted, having kickers and punters and special teams guys get picked over me. I definitely felt some type of way over it” (via USA Today)."
Dwayne Haskins gets a new toy in Moss as the undrafted free agent tight end vies for a roster spot. The son of Randy Moss got his shot, even if he didn’t get a phone call during the 2020 NFL Draft.
He is mad. He is using his draft experience as motivation. He is ready to get out of his father’s shadow. Look for Thaddeus Moss to approach training camp with an attitude of a competitor.
