Jacksonville Jaguars

This feels like the rather obvious answer, does it not?

Ever since their AFC Championship loss to the New England Patriots in 2017, the Jaguars have been purging veteran cornerstone pieces off of their roster left and right. They already have multiple first round picks in next year’s draft after the trade of Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams, and more picks could be on the way.

Disgruntled edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue is still on the roster, despite being vocal about needing a change of scenery. He is expected to garner a top-90 pick in return, with a second rounder being the logical answer to his trade value.

More from With the First Pick

They have parted ways with defensive tackles Malik Jackson and Marcell Dareus, and traded Dante Fowler at the deadline in 2018. The once fierce defense of the Jaguars is now completely dismantled and rather short lived.

Former fourth overall pick Leonard Fournette is looking at his last year in Jacksonville in the face as well. Jacksonville is entering a complete and total upheaval of the roster.

The Jaguars also duped the Chicago Bears into giving them a fourth round pick for veteran quarterback Nick Foles, clearing a boat load of cap space off of their books, and now give the keys to second year quarterback Gardner Minshew. If it is not evident by now, it soon will be: Minshew is not a franchise quarterback and is better suited as a career backup who can spot start when needed.

This is not a disservice to Minshew, however, current Cleveland Browns quarterback Case Keenum has made a career doing just that. However, it is evident the Jaguars, with their 2021 NFL Draft capital and lack of talent at the quarterback position, are all in on Trevor Lawrence.
