Accuracy/Poise

When he’s forced off his spot, he will miss easy throws. He has the natural arm talent with a cannon for an arm. He’s better in structure and playing within a clean pocket. The athleticism is there for him to play off-script and extend plays but don’t think he will be known for this type of play in the NFL. Herbert’s ability to put zip behind his throws is something to be talked about also. He has a very natural release and throws with impressive velocity.

He has issues with his mechanics that also affect his accuracy. He has a bad habit of leaning back and throwing off his back foot. Pressure still is a concern for him. He can panic under pressure and make bad decisions with the football that led to most of his interceptions. His internal clock seems a tad bit too early and struggles with sensing pressure.

His misfires on throws are a product of his mechanical issues. He excelled with RPO calls and screen passes while at Oregon.  When he is given the time you really see how special of a player Herbert can be. He can drop balls into tight windows and throw receivers open.
