This is my favorite value pick for MVP for this upcoming season for a few reasons. First, Wentz has proved that he can do it. Before abruptly tearing his ACL in 2017, he was well on his way to becoming the MVP in his second season in the league. He had posted an 11-2 record with 33 touchdowns to only seven interceptions while posting 3,296 yards.

This pace would have yielded him over 4,000 passing yards and approximately a little over 40 touchdown passes. Although Wentz has many question marks about his durability, he slowly seemed to come down to his MVP form last year. Since his season-ending injury in 2017, he has played 27 out of a possible 32 regular season games.

Last year, Wentz played exceptionally under dire circumstances. He was playing with incapable NFL WRs for the entirety of the year when guys like Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson were hurt as early as week two. He couldn’t develop any continuity as new wide receivers seemed to be in the starting lineup each week.

Last year, Wentz became the first QB in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards while not having a single receiver post over 500 yards. His ball security was extremely poor as he had the second most fumbles (16) in the NFL. He needs to cut those down dramatically but the Eagles did make a conscientious effort to surround Wentz with more ammunition on the perimeter this offseason.

Guys like first round pick Jalen Reagor, Marquise Goodwin, and John Hightower add a ton of speed and big-play ability to Wentz. In addition, Desean Jackson should be ready to go at the start of the season, as well as the  hope that Alshon should be ready by the middle part of the season. With consistent production from All-Pro tight end Zach Ertz and the progression of guys like Dallas Goedert and Miles Sanders, the upside is absolutely there for this Eagles offense and the FCS product Wentz to absolutely explode.
