Examining Panthers new future in Carolina
No more Newton
Who would’ve thought after winning MVP and making a super bowl run Cam Newton would be released just four years later? I still believe in Cam being a starting quarterback in this league, and the Panthers will be kicking themselves if he can get back to his 2015/2018 play.

However, after some worrying injuries and new coaching/front office, it was time for a fresh start at quarterback. Another offseason move the Panthers made was signing former first rounder and Vikings and Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Teddy has had a rollercoaster of an NFL career. Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, Teddy was put into the spotlight and played well in his first two seasons. Coming into his third season, he tragically tore his ACL in training camp and has bounced around as a backup since hoping to get another shot at starting. He’s going to have his chance in 2020 as Panther quarterback after signing a three year $63 million contract.
The reality of the Bridgewater signing is a bridge to the next franchise QB for the Panthers. His deal may seem large, but he can be cut after the 2021 season, which will set up nicely for the Panthers to draft a quarterback in the next two drafts.
