Hamsah Nasirildeen, Florida State

After an excellent junior season with the Florida State Seminoles, safety Hamsah Nasirildeen went down with a torn ACL. Given his recovery time, Nasirildeen decided to return to Tallahassee for his senior season in hopes of proving the long term effect of his knee would not linger into his professional career.

A massive safety, Nasirildeen is listed at a whopping 6-4 and 215 pounds, but does not lack the athleticism needed to succeed at the next level. As teams are looking to get more versatile against the pass without compromising their run defense, players with the size and versatility of Nasirildeen are becoming a hot commodity in the NFL.

Pro Football Network’s Scott Gorman sees the appeal of his size and versatility, and says Nasirildeen belongs in the same category as Derwin James and Isaiah Simmons:

"“Nasirildeen could be looking at a similar type of role this season with the Seminoles. While safety has been his primary position thus far and no switch was formally announced, this could be a way for FSU to capitalize on his strengths. Nasirildeen does not have the ideal range for a deep safety, so moving up to cover slot receivers and tight ends could better suit him as a college player and pro prospect” (Gorman via PFN)."

In 11 games with the Seminoles a year ago, Nasirildeen not only picked off two passes and defending three more, but he also forced three fumbles, racked up 60 solo tackles, two tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and one sack. Hopefully the Florida State safety returns to full strength in 2020 and can continue to stack the box score again.

He would have been a day-two pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and throughout this season, he has a chance to play himself into day-one consideration with a solid season. With the Jamal Adams trade rumors swirling, he is definitely a name to keep an eye on for the Jets.
