The Jets finally release their 2020 NFL Draft class rookie numbers

The New York Jets look to take a step forward after finishing the 2019 season strong, with a 7-9 record on the season. They then put together a sparking 2020 NFL Draft class that includes the likes of offensive tackle Mekhi Becton, and wide receiver Denzel Mims.

Today, two months after the draft, the Jets have finally released the numbers their 2020 haul will be wearing during their rookie season. You know what they say: look good, feel good, play good. No doubt about it, there are some good looking uniforms in this class for the Jets.

Looking at the number selections

Mekhi Becton, the 11th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft has been assigned number 77 for the Jets. Double of the same number is always a clean look, and it is one that former Baylor and second round wide receiver Mims, and former Florida running back Lamichal Perine both followed.

Mims, sporting not only a palindrome, but also a number in the teens, is an elite look. Choosing number 11 should make Mims the top jersey of the bunch as this is about as clean as it gets from the wide receiver position number wise.

Perine’s number doubles Mims’, wearing 22, a clean look for any running back or defensive back to sport. The former Gator ball carrier deserves to start and force former All-Pro LeVeon Bell out of a starting job on his number alone.

Rounding out the rest

Third round safety Ashtyn Davis, the heir to the Jamal Adams throne as it seems, also chose a solid number to make his own with 32, but there is nothing too overly exciting about the look of it. Jabari Zuniga‘s 92 is another clean, yet slightly underwhelming look for the Jets, as is Cameron Clark‘s 72.

Quarterback James Morgan and punter Braden Mann land at the bottom of the rankings with their single digit numbers. Don’t get it twisted, single digit numbers can look great, just not the ones these two rookies chose.

These numbers are sometimes bound to change after training camp and roster cut downs, so there is still reason to be hesitant about buying a jersey. However, Becton, Mims, and Perine should not touch theirs as they are as close to perfect as they come.
