Give Rousseau time to grow

One of the players who could be affected is Miami’s, Gregory Rousseau. In high school, Rousseau played wide receiver and defensive back. Miami saw something in him that others didn’t see (not sure how the dude is massive) and recruited him to play defensive end. Rosseau didn’t play his freshman season for the Hurricanes do to an ankle injury and sat out the entire season and took a redshirt year.

More from With the First Pick

Coming into the next season expectations were high as Rousseau had put on some weight during the off-season and started looking more like a defensive end, rather than a basketball player. Despite expectations, Rousseau didn’t start right away, but it didn’t take him long to prove to the coaches that he deserved to be on the field.

In the first five games of the season, Rousseau racked up three sacks and 5.5 tackles-for-loss. By week 6, Manny Diaz had no choice but to give him more reps and that’s when things took off; in the last 8 games of the season, he tallied 11.5 sacks and 14 tackles-for-loss. With more reps, Rousseau started to get better, which brings me back to my point, he needs the 2020-2021 college football season.
