2021 NFL Draft: Examining the three-way battle for QB1
By Cory Kinnan
Taking a deeper look at Trevor Lawrence
First up on the list is Clemson superstar and presumed number one pick in the 2021 NFL Draft Trevor Lawrence. The highly anticipated prospect ever since he took his first snap as a true freshman in 2018, Lawrence has been touted as the best quarterback prospect to hit the sights of NFL teams since Andrew Luck back in 2012.

Starting with his accuracy, Lawrence has graded out as the best quarterback of the top-three on this writer’s weighted on-target percentage (to be debuted at a later time), hitting the mark on nearly 80 percent of his throws in a three game sample size. This formula weighs on-target passes deep down the field and to the boundary the most, areas of the field where Lawrence thrives.
As far as the footwork and mechanics of Lawrence’s game, he is as clean of a prospect as one would find in that department. He shows great timing and light, quick feet on his drops, and executes timing routes with a high level of efficiency.
As far as his arm, Lawrence has a rifle attacked to his right shoulder, but knows how to absolutely wield it as well. Putting finesse on his throws over the second level of the defense and hitting bucket throws deep down the field and toward the boundary, and from different arm slots, Lawrence shows the necessary touch to thrive at the NFL level.
