Hunter Henry, TE

Hunter Henry is a talented tight end who the organization really likes. After failing to reach a long-term deal Henry will be playing under the franchise tag for $10.6 million. Putting the tag on Henry was the correct move by the front office. Henry missed all the 2018 season with a torn ACL and missed four games in 2019. In 12 games he totaled 55 receptions, 652 yards, and five touchdowns.

As mentioned before, the offense is set to look a lot differently in 2020 and Henry’s role in the offense will play a big role. If he’s able to stay healthy 2020 could be the best season of his young career. Tyrod Taylor loves throwing to his tight ends and we should expect to see that connection this upcoming season. With Taylor’s mobility, you can look forward to seeing an offense that will run the football a lot more in 2020.

This can be detrimental to Henry’s production. With Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Austin Ekeler being the primary options on offense, it’s hard to tell how many opportunities will be afforded to Henry. If 2020 goes as planned and Henry sees a healthy and productive season, both sides should be comfortable working out a long term deal.
