Monday Morning Sleepers: 4 2021 NFL Draft sleepers with potential to soar in 2020
By Cory Kinnan
Hunter Long, Tight End, Boston College
This year’s tight end class is compromised of what many will say is three big names: Florida’s Kyle Pitts, Penn State’s Pat Freiermuth, and Miami’s Brevin Jordan. However, the last of this edition’s 2021 NFL Draft sleepers deserves to be in the same conversation as the big-three in Boston College’s Hunter Long.
Not only is Long a fantastic athlete who will test well at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he shows the ability to win over the top and in the air; he is not a bad run blocker either, which is an added plus for any NFL team. He is entering only his redshirt junior season, so he still has some time to decide if this year’s draft is right for him, but he has the making of the best tight end in the ACC.
Correct, Long may be better than the Hurricane getting all of the hype.
A year ago, the 6-5 and 255 pound tight end recorded over 500 yards and two scores on just 28 catches for the Eagles, a team struggling with quarterback inconsistencies and a team who fed second round running back A.J. Dillon the bulk of their offensive touches. Now with the departure of Dillon, the Eagles will have to spread their wealth around; they would be wise to depend on Long to carry a bulk of that load.
