Oklahoma Football now out two RBs as Kennedy Brooks opts out

Oklahoma football will now be missing Kennedy Brooks this season
The Oklahoma football program now finds themselves in a sticky situation in their backfield this upcoming season. After senior running back Trey Sermon transferred to Ohio State earlier this offseason, the Sooners looked to rely solely on Kennedy Brooks to carry the load of their rushing attack.
However, amidst the current health concern in college football, Brooks has now decided to opt out of the 2020 season. This came on the heels of a new report that there were nine new positive tests of the ongoing pandemic at Oklahoma this week.
What is next for Kennedy Brooks?

Entering the 2020 season on the heels of back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons, Brooks looked like a candidate for one of the top running backs in the draft. A year ago, Brooks rushed for 1,011 yards receiving and scored six touchdowns on the ground for the Sooners.
While Brooks has opted out, he has not declared for the 2021 NFL Draft as of yet. This means he will look to get back on campus next season, hoping everything has cleared by then. By the time he gets back, Brooks will likely return to the starting job in the backfield for the Sooners.
Next man up for Oklahoma Football
After losing both Sermon and Brooks this offseason, the Sooners will now have to dig deeper on their depth chart to fill the void in their backfield. Next men up are senior Rhomandre Stevenson and junior T.J. Pledger.
Combined, these two running backs have rushed for less than 800 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. The loss of both Sermon and Brooks will be significantly felt in the backfield of the Oklahoma Football program.
