From Northwestern to the 2021 NFL Draft, Rashawn Slater is ready.
Joining Michigan’s Jalen Mayfield as Big Ten offensive tackles to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft, Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater has opted out of the season in order to train for the NFL Scouting Combine. Just added to the Reese’s Senior Bowl watchlist today, Slater enters as one of the favorite offensive linemen across the board.
How Rashawn Slater projects in the NFL
Right now, many project Slater as an offensive guard at the next level given his size. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, there is a solid chance Slater is a bit smaller than his listed measurables. However, should Slater measure in at 6-foot-4 and have his arms measured around 33 inches or longer, then there is potential for Slater to stay at tackle in the NFL.

He has a refined pass set, hows the ability to drop vertically and get his hands on defenders in a jump set efficiently as well. With plenty of mobility to spare, Slater has no problem getting lateral in the run game and can climb to the second level with efficient technique as well. The level of polished technique that Slater plays with will make him a highly sought after prospect at the next level.
Where Rashawn Slater projects in the 2021 NFL Draft
A good amount of Slater’s 2021 NFL Draft will depend on his verified height and how NFL teams view him at the next level. Despite what position Slater projects at, he has all of the makings of a late-first round pick or early-second rounder.
The versatility should be considered more of an asset than a hindrance when considering his projection. A polished prospect, Slater has the makings of a long-time stud along an NFL offensive front.
