The Big Ten’s pivot could prove huge for their 2021 NFL Draft hopefuls
After cancelling their season until the Spring of 2021, the Big Ten and their commissioner Kevin Warren have hit a bit of a backpedal, and one which could prove huge for 2021 NFL Draft prospects from those respective universities. Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, after writing a petition that received tens of thousands of signatures, could be one of the main players who could benefit from this move. His strength and tenacity to pen this petition show his competitive spirit and willingness to take his game to the next level.

Prospects like Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman and Penn State’s Micah Parsons decided not to wait on the Big Ten to make their move, taking their destiny into their own hands. This led to them opting out of the season and declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.
However, those who opted to stay in school like Fields or Penn State’s Journey Brown may now have a chance to improve their draft stock while still having the time to train and plan for the draft in April of 2021. Not only that, but teams like Ohio State would once again have the opportunity to compete for a national title.
Nothing is official yet, but things may be shaping up for the Big Ten and their ability to play football this Fall, even if it is in November. Certainly a situation to monitor, we could see football happen very soon in the Big Ten after their pivot from an earlier decision.
