2021 NFL Draft: Trevor Lawrence wants more than success on the field
By Cory Kinnan
2021 NFL Draft prospect Trevor Lawrence has something to say.
Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has all of the upside in the world between the stripes on the gridiron; in fact, he is the top prospect of the 2021 NFL Draft just for this reason. However as he prepares for his Junior season and the NFL as his next step, on-field success is not the only desire Lawrence hopes to see in 2020.
Not only has Lawrence completed over 65 percent of his passes, thrown for nearly 7,000 yards in two seasons, and 66 touchdowns for the Tigers, but he has proven to be a leader in his community as well. The National Champion winner is a proven captain in the huddle, but realizes the reality that many of his teammates face out in the world as well.

Amid all of the unrest in 2020 in response to police brutality and the deaths of George Floyd and Jacob Blake, the likely first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft is now using his platform and status to speak up for equality. Not only a leader on the field for the Tigers, Lawrence has stepped up to be a voice in his community as well.
First, he spoke at a march and rally, then today he released a statement demanding change, and laying out particular steps towards that goal. These steps included accountability in registering to votes, conversations with university administrations, and creating outreach initiatives.
One team getting a leader of men in the 2021 NFL Draft
Clemson has been fortunate to have this guy leading their program, and he is showing the leadership necessary to lead an NFL franchise in a year from now. Lawrence will win his teammates over at the next level in no time, just as he has and continues to do at Clemson throughout his collegiate career.
