UAB vs. Miami features a good crop of 2021 NFL Draft prospects

Ladies and gentlemen football is officially back. If feels good to utter those words out of my mouth. Covid-19 has brought uncertainty upon all of our lives in 2020. We all had our doubts on if a fall season was possible but here, we are getting ready to watch live football in September.

UAB heads into Thursday’s game with a 45-35 victory over Central Arkansas. Thursday will mark the first matchup between the two programs. Miami comes into the game with some new faces on both the staff and the roster. D’Eriq King is now the starting quarterback for the Canes and Rhett Lashlee is now calling the shots on the offensive side of the ball for Miami.

Miami comes into the game as 14.5-point favorites, but they shouldn’t take this team lightly. UAB comes into this season after finishing 2019 with a 9-5 record and the Blazers host some exciting talent on offense. Miami is boasting a new swagger and confidence that hasn’t been seen in Coral Gables in quite some time.

UAB wants to control the clock and run the football to keep the new Miami offense off the field. In their win against Central Arkansas, the Blazers held the football for a whopping 37 minutes. Penalties and turnovers were a bit an issue and if the Blazers plan on shocking Miami, they will need to control the self-afflicting negative plays.

The Hurricanes are still stout on the defensive side of the ball and you can expect for the turnover chain to make an early appearance if things go as planned. Let’s look at three prospects to watch for Thursday’s matchup.
