Expect a coming out party from Cowboys first rounder CeeDee Lamb

The Dallas Cowboys did not start the season out the way they wanted to. They dropped their season opener versus the Rams who debuted in beautiful, new SoFi Stadium on Sunday Night of week one. The Rams defense proved to be stingier than many thought and Aaron Donald was still Aaron Donald as he was constantly disrupting any flow Dallas tried to develop on offense.

Despite Dallas’s lackluster performance, this will be one of the more dynamic offenses in all of the NFL, and CeeDee Lamb will be a huge reason why. The rookie had a solid debut catching five out of his six targets for 59 yards including this 33-yard catch:

This was Dallas’s longest completion of the night. The expectations for this receiving corps this offseason were substantial as many pundits predicted they’d have a good chance at their top three receivers each breaking 1,000 yards. This hasn’t happened since 2008 when the Cardinals had Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Breaston each post over 1,000 receiving yards.

More from With the First Pick

I expect CeeDee Lamb to absolutely dominate come Sunday against Atlanta in Dallas’s home opener. The Falcons secondary got absolutely torched week one against a new-look Seahawks offense. Russell Wilson completed nearly 90% of his passes going 31/35 and finding nine different receivers.

The Falcons moved on from longtime starting corner Desmond Trufant this offseason. They have high hopes for first rounder, AJ Terrell and 2018 second rounder, Isaiah Oliver but this should be a total mismatch on the perimeter in Dallas’s favor come Sunday.

Even without any preseason action, Dallas displayed full confidence in Lamb’s abilities. In week one, CeeDee Lamb topped all rookie receivers running 42 routes and playing 57 snaps.

Unfortunately for Dallas, starting tight end Blake Jarwin suffered a season-ending injury tearing his ACL. Backup Dalton Schultz will look to pick up the slack but he is not the pass catcher Jarwin is. Expect CeeDee to pick up more work, while Dallas should be much aggressive in their aerial attack this week against one of the worst secondaries in football.
