Jevon Holland is off to the 2021 NFL Draft!
While there is a full slate of games on today with the SEC back in action, it was the Pac-12 that stole the headlines as one of their better defensive players has opted out of the season. Oregon hybrid defensive back Jevon Holland has announced he will be declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft, even after the announcement that the Pac-12 would return to action in November.
Holland becomes the latest in a long list of Oregon stars who have opted out of the season in favor of the NFL Draft. Joining Holland thus far are cornerbacks Thomas Graham Jr., Deommodore Lenoir, and star offensive tackle Penei Sewell as they all have opted to begin training for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Right off the bat when discussing the 6-foot-1 and 200 pound safety in Holland is the versatility he can bring to the defensive side of the ball. He has the ability to line up over the top of the defense, and has plenty of experience playing in the nickel role as well with the Ducks. Nine interceptions in two season also displays Holland’s ability to be a ball hawk defensively as well.
Here is what The Draft Network’s Drae Harris, a former NFL scout, brings to the table on Holland in his scouting report:
"“He is a good athlete, who opens his hips with fluidity to run upfield with receivers. He is a leader who makes the calls and adjustments on the back end. In the run game, he is efficient and shows willingness as a tackler. In the passing game, he is good due to his versatility. He shows athleticism and versatility to play on the backend and then kick inside to nickel. He is sufficient at staying in phase in man coverage from a press or off position.”"
While he is a bit of a tweener, not quite dominant in man coverage to be a full time nickel, and limited reps as a true safety, it will be interesting to see how the league values Holland off of just two years of tape; he could make for an interesting projection. He has from now until February to train for the NFL Scouting Combine in order to wow teams with the 2021 NFL Draft up next.
