What are the most ideal NFL fits for Trey Lance?

After just one full season as a Redshirt Freshman and one showcase game a weekend ago, the North Dakota State phenom quarterback Trey Lance is off to the 2021 NFL Draft. Throwing no interceptions a year ago and just one throughout his college career, Lance was named as the FCS equivalent to the Heisman Trophy a year ago for the Bison.

He looks to be locked in as a top-three quarterback in this year’s draft class, with his floor seemingly being a top-ten pick. There are some teams without wins, and an even larger number with only one win on the 2020 season thus far (some of which are surprising). With that said, the landing spots for Lance are currently aplenty.

What are the most ideal situations for Lance to land in when the draft rolls round in April?

Honorable mention: Las Vegas Raiders

With a record of 2-2, the Las Vegas Raiders are unlikely to be in the running for Lance by the time the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around (barring a massive downfall to their season). However, ever since Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock have taken over, there has been a sense that current quarterback Derek Carr is not their guy for the long haul.

They have weapons on the offensive side of the football, and an above average offensive line. Imagine for a second: Trey Lance throwing to the likes of Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards, and Darren Waller. Not to mention Joshua Jacobs still taking handoffs in the backfield.

It is a pipedream for now, but Lance in the silver and black would be one of the more beautiful sights to behold.
