Darius Stills has taken his talent to the 2021 NFL Draft

As the regular season has closed for most of the conferences in Division 1 FCS football, declarations for the 2021 NFL Draft are beginning to roll in as players are ready to take their game to the next level. The newest to join the pack is West Virginia defensive tackle Darius Stills.

Stills burst onto the scene for the Mountaineers in 2019, a season where he made a living in the backfield of every team they played. He finished his junior season with six sacks and 12 tackles for loss. This season, the 6-foot-1 and 285 pound defensive tackle followed these numbers up with seven and a half tackles for loss and three and a half sacks in just eight games for the Mountaineers.

Ryan Roberts of The Dynasty Draft Room sees the explosiveness in Stills’ game:

More from With the First Pick

"“Darius is a quick and explosive interior presence for the Mountaineers. Lining up at the nose position for the team, Stills creates a ton of havoc attacking gaps to either shoulder. He possesses some absurd natural leverage, easily being able to get underneath opposing offensive lineman and asserting the line of scrimmage in the defense’s favor.”"

Where his draft stock currently stands

Fortunately for Stills, this is a relatively weak class of defensive tackles, meaning he could rise with a solid performance at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana at the beginning of the year. He currently sits as a top-five defensive tackle in the 2021 NFL Draft class, behind the likes of Alabama’s Christian Barmore and USC’s Jay Tufele.

Teams always make a run on defensive tackles near the third round of the NFL Draft as they need to add depth to their defensive front rotations. It seems like a pretty safe bet to say Stills will likely hear his name called in the top-100 this upcoming April.
