2021 NFL Draft: Jaguars lock up Trevor Lawrence, jumpstart rebuild
By Hunter Neel
Trevor Lawrence to Jacksonville now looks like a lock
Well Jaguar fans, you did it. It has been a long year of mediocre to bad play throughout the roster but it all came to fruition today, when the team lost to the Chicago Bears 41-17. This loss, along with the New York Jets win, secured them the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft with Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence in their sights.
All of Jags nation seemed to be on board with this though as videos emerged of fans cheering as the Bears continued to score touchdowns. The tank was in full effect and the fans were all on board for this.
It is no secret that Lawrence, the top quarterback in the 2021 draft class and perhaps over the last decade, has long so been linked to be the number one overall pick. Now that the Jaguars are in sole possession of the pick, Lawrence to Jacksonville seems to be a lock.

Lawrence has long been viewed as the franchise saving quarterback prospect every team needs. He is in fact a great prospect, but the team needs more than just Lawrence to come back to relevance within the NFL, though he is a great start to jumpstart the rebuild.
Looking at 2021 ammunition for Jaguars
The team currently has 11 picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, including two first round picks and two second round picks. They are also projected to have nearly $100 million in cap space.
Between the draft capital and cap space the team is truly slated to kickstart their rebuild in a quick way. With some already exciting talent on the roster the team is slated for a quick turnaround.
The future is bright for Trevor Lawrence, Jags
The Jaguars already have exciting playmakers in running back James Robinson, wide receivers DJ Chark and Laviska Shenault, pass rushers Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson, and cornerback CJ Henderson on roster. Not to mention the likes of Myles Jack and Sidney Jones who has been playing extremely well for the team.
The future is bright for the Jaguars, but it all starts with the right hires at both head coach and general manager. Landing Lawrence helps a bit as well.
