Round Four: Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest

While the Lions have finally found a true number one receiver in Kenny Golladay, it has become increasingly likely that he could leave in free agency after this year. In fact, the only receiver currently on the roster who will still be on contract is rookie Quintez Cephus. Detroit would be wise to sign Kenny to a long-term deal, even though it would probably make him one of the highest paid receivers in the game.

With or without Kenny Golladay, the Lions will clearly need more receivers. Free agency could be a factor, but in another deep receiver class, they can easily come up with one or more. Here they take Wake Forest standout Sage Surratt. Listed at 6-foot-3 inches, 215 pounds, Surratt not only has the size to be a true number one receiving threat at the next level, but he has the talent too. Sage will fall a bit due to him opting out of the 2020 season, but he checks all the boxes on the field.

Round Five: Jeremiah Moon, EDGE, Florida

More from With the First Pick

Last but not least, we get the Detroit Lions some potential pass rush help. Glance back to a couple picks earlier when we took a peek at the state of Detroit’s defensive line. Re-read the part about their “star” pass rusher having only nine sacks in two years. I am not going to assume that a fifth round pick will solve the lack of pass rush they have, but it certainly can’t hurt.

Jeremiah Moon is a high-upside pass rusher for the University of Florida with very limited production. The sky is the limit for him and the Lions will take whatever they can get to help get to opposing team’s quarterbacks. The Detroit Lions will need make a serious effort in gaining additional draft picks this spring. Five picks for a brand new head coach and general manager just won’t cut it.
