Daily Draft Digest: Rams QB situation, Josh Heupel, and Eric Gray
By Cory Kinnan
Another day, another Daily Draft Digest. This time we take a look at one NFL team, the Los Angeles Rams, who could be active in finding a new quarterback next season, a major college program looks to solve their massive problems brewing on campus, and one of their former players finding a new home. All of this, and we are now about three months from the 2021 NFL Draft!
Rams have a QB conundrum on their hands
The Rams have a quarterback problem on their hands, and it is not one that is easily solved. With a ton of dead money still attached to Jared Goff’s name, the Rams cannot easily get out of his deal, but general manager Les Snead did not exactly give Goff raving confidence that he would be the guy in 2021.
In fact, it now looks like the Rams are leaning towards an open competition in training camp next season. Goff, backup John Wolford, and even potentially a rookie gunslinger could all compete for the starting job by the time the 2021 season rolls around.

The Tennessee Volunteers have not had a kind month, and they have already received backlash for their hire of new head coach Josh Heupel. The former University of Central Florida head coach has continually seen less and less success from the Scott Frost era for the Knights, but has fallen up, landing in the SEC.
If only the Volunteers had hired Greg Schiano when they had the chance three years ago they may not be in such a grim situation.
Former Tennessee RB Eric Gray finds new home
After the fallout in Rockytop under former head coach Jeremy Pruitt, it seemed as though every big named player on the Volunteers’ roster entered the transfer portal. Names like Wanya Morris and linebacker Henry To’o To’o began searching for new homes. Morris has since landed in Norman, Oklahoma with the Sooners.
One of his teammates at Tennessee will be joining him as well, as running back Eric Gray is also heading to play under the guidance of Lincoln Riley. This past season, Gray averaged nearly five yards per carry, rushing for 772 yards and four touchdowns for the Volunteers. He will now look to use Oklahoma’s high powered offense to boost his 2022 NFL Draft stock.
