Saints: 3 Options with the 28th Pick in 2021 NFL Draft

2. Add another offensive weapon
The Saints will be in need of talent on all three levels of the defense in the near future. Currently linebacker stands out as one of the top needs for this team. However, one of the most underrated positions of need for the Saints is wide receiver. With uncertainty around the quarterback position going forward, why not add to a lackluster receiver group so you can be prepared when the time comes to add that future franchise guy.
With Michael Thomas missing most of the season the weaknesses at the receiver position were evident. Alvin Kamara led the team on targets, receptions, and yards with Emmanuel Sanders (a potential cap casualty) being second on the team in those same categories. Thomas being back next year will be huge for the team but outside of him it’s clear there isn’t that dominant threat on the perimeter that’ll divert attention away from Thomas.
In what many consider to be an extremely deep wide receiver class the Saints could have plenty of options at their disposal if this is the direction they go. Players such as Rondale Moore out of Purdue, Amon-Ra St. Brown out of USC, Kadarius Toney out of Florida, or Terrace Marshall Jr. out of LSU could all be available. The direction the team goes will likely depend on how they want to build their wide receiver room but Toney should be atop their board based on the players already on roster.
