Seahawks: 3 OL options in 2021 NFL Draft amid Russell Wilson frustration
Jackson Carman, OT, Clemson
Now here’s a guy (Chris Collinsworth voice) who can play left tackle. Which would make Russell Wilson quite happy. Not only can he play left tackle at a high level, but he also did it in front of one of the most elite passers in the NCAA the last couple of seasons. He has shown he lock down the quarterback’s weak side and keep him upright.
There is a lot to like here, though at 6-foot-5 some might think he will be a guard at the next level. But, at 345 and 5.6 40-yard for me, he’s too slow to be any sort of pulling guard in the run game. I would look for him to stick at left tackle and be a rock for years to come there. His size will cause questions and concern, he was beaten up pretty badly against Ohio State in the college football playoffs but let’s all be honest here that was a very dangerous defensive line.
I wouldn’t expect Carman at the next level to see that level of talent and blitzing schemes all day every day, so I wouldn’t stick that on him, not to mention this was quite an odd season in college football and Ohio State was far more rested as an overall team than Clemson was.
Carman will need the pro-days to showcase where he should end up not only position-wise but draft wise. He can go anywhere from the mid-second round to the fourth round.
