Round 2, Pick 55: Creed Humphrey, IOL Oklahoma

The Seattle Seahawks enter the draft in the second round of this 7-round mock draft. The team sent their 2021 first-round pick and other picks to the New York Jets in exchange for safety Jamal Adams. Entering the 2021 season, the Seahawks’ starting center from 2020, Ethan Pocic, will be going into free agency. This leaves Seattle with an opportune time to make a change and an upgrade at one of the most key positions on the offensive line to help protect Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks select Oklahoma center Creed Humphrey with their first pick of this mock draft. Humphrey is an experienced starter along the offensive line. He makes up for his overall lack of athleticism with incredible football instincts and elite strength. With his strength comes his understanding and grasp of how exactly to use his leverage. With a background in wrestling, Humphrey is able to get defenders off-kilt and punish them accordingly.

Since the Seattle Seahawks are looking to upgrade the offensive front, this is a fine start to the process. With Damien Lewis having a full year under his belt, the team will need him and whoever they sign/draft at left guard to ease Humphrey into the league. Rookie centers have a tendency to struggle early, but Humphrey’s experience as a leader and starter in college bodes well for his transition.
