Round 5, Pick 168: Shi Smith, WR South Carolina

The wide receiver position may not seem like a big position of need for the Seahawks, but quietly, it remains one of their biggest under the radar needs going into the 2021 NFL Draft. With limited picks in this class, the team is going to have to find a replacement for free agents David Moore and Phillip Dorsett if they leave in free agency. Past those two players, Seattle’s receivers are the always dependable Tyler Lockett and the emerging superstar D.K. Metcalf, accompanied by 2020 sixth-round pick Freddie Swaim.

In this 7-round mock for the Seahawks, they get a steal at the wide receiver position in the fifth-round in the form of South Carolina receiver Shi Smith. Smith could add another level to this Seattle offense as a true slot receiver with a little more attitude. Not one to shy away from the big play, Smith makes a statement every chance he gets. With Metcalf and Lockett garnering most of the attention, Smith could be a big contributor for the Seattle Seahawks early in his career.

Smith has very reliable hands and speed from the slot, making him a fun option for the Seahawks in the fifth round. His great performance at the Senior Bowl this year should get him quite a bit of attention during the NFL Draft.
