Najee Harris, Running Back, Alabama

Playing in the AFC East, you have to have a run game especially in December when it get colder. Alabama running back Najee Harris is a big, physical back who is coming off a great college career at Alabama where he won the Doak Walker Award and  helped the Crimson Tide to two national championships.

At 6-foot-2, 230lbs he isn’t necessarily Derrick Henry but he is a big back with excellent agility with tread still left on the tires. In his first two years at Alabama he was behind Josh Jacobs, Damien Harris, and Bo Scarbrough so his workload was light until his junior campaign where he ran for over 1,000 yards.

Frank Gore is a legend but he is pushing 38 years old and the Jets just paid LeVeon Bell a whole lot of money to not play for them anymore. A restart at running back would benefit the offense and whoever the quarterback is in 2021 mightily.

The Jets were second to last in the NFL in 2020 in rushing touchdowns and in the bottom third of the league in rushing yards. With new offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur coming over with new head coach Robert Saleh, expect that to change because the ground game is what helped the 49ers and LaFleur make it to the Super Bowl in 2019.

Adding Harris would help develop the passing game and bring some physicality to the run game that I haven’t seen since in a long time.
