As the 2021 NFL Draft approaches, it is hard to find a team in a more favorable position than the Miami Dolphins. With every option on the table, from trading for a star quarterback, to take the best available player, to even trading out, the Dolphins can come away as robbers.

In fact, in the quarterback-needy nature of the draft, the Dolphins could come away with a king’s ransom should they opt to deal the pick. Miami landed the third overall pick as they are still benefitting from trading offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil to the sinking Houston Texans. The Dolphins could continue to rack up first round picks, and even Brian Flores said his phone is on.

However, if Miami stays at the third overall pick, what are their options? From taking the best player available to landing a star quarterback, to landing a haul from a quarterback-needy team, the options are endless in Miami.

Possible players on the board for Dolphins?

The only players off the board by the time the Dolphins come on the clock will be quarterbacks. We know for almost certainty Trevor Lawrence is heading to the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Zach Wilson set to head to the New York Jets as well (unless they land a superstar quarterback in a trade).

With that being said, the Dolphins will have offensive tackle Penei Sewell right in their sights. Will the addition of Isaiah Wilson push Sewell out of their priorities? If they stay at pick three and go elsewhere from an offensive tackle, the one of Ja’Marr Chase, DeVonta Smith, or Jaylen Waddle may be heading to South Beach.

The sleeper pick would be to consider Florida tight end Kyle Pitts as well, as he is redefining the tight end position as it is.

Deshaun Watson still in play?

At this point, it seems like the Jets are in the best position to land Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans, despite their stonecold stance regarding the quarterback. The Carolina Panthers are also going to push hard to acquire the superstar quarterback as well. However, as far as assets come, the Dolphins can still put together the best imaginable package, competitive with the Jets.
