Former Bengals CB William Jackson III. Pittsburgh Steelers At Cincinnati Bengals /

The Cincinnati Bengals have lost another key contributor on defense, this time in the secondary. William Jackson III has signed a multi-year deal with the Washington Football Team, meaning the Bengals are now without their top cornerback. They went and signed Chidobe Awuzie away from the Cowboys, but Awuzie has not exactly been a model of consistency throughout his career.

They have the slot on lock after they signed one of the league’s best in Mike Hilton. Cornerback is one of the most important positions on a football team. As teams start running less and throwing more, defenses need to have three solid cornerbacks if they want to stay in games. Good coverage can shut down offenses and lead to the quarterback taking more sacks, which is a necessity.

Can the Bengals add another CB in the 2021 NFL Draft?

The 2021 NFL Draft has some solid cornerbacks in it. There is a fantastic value up at the top, and some decent value on day two and early day three. The Bengals will likely have to address the position within the first four rounds if they want to get a player who can become a starter, the value after that drops off quite harshly. The Bengals run a base nickel defense, meaning they will have five secondary players on the field.

With cornerback being of major value, and a hole has opened on the Bengals defense, it only makes sense that they will grab one in the 2021 NFL Draft in April. Not only do the Bengals have to replace Carl Lawson, but now Jackson III as well. This article will feature a day-one option, a day-two option, and a day-three option that the Bengals might be interested in. Without further adieu, let’s get into the players.
