2. Tommy Tremble, Notre Dame

Tommy Tremble is not quite the household name at tight end which usually isn’t the case for Notre Dame players at the position. Tremble came to Notre Dame in the 2018 class out of Georgia and was rated as a high three-star with upside. Unfortunately due to the guys playing in front of him, Tremble was held primarily to a reserve role and was basically used exclusively for pass-catching purposes only. Being behind guys like second-year tight end Cole Kmet and future first rounder Michael Mayer who burst onto the scene as a true freshman in 2020.

Whatever team ends up drafting Tommy Tremble in the 2021 NFL Draft will be taking on a project prospect but one with tons of upside. Tremble has ideal size at the position checking in at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds and is an athlete for the position. In 19 career games with the Fighting Irish, Tremble totaled 35 receptions for 401 yards and four touchdowns.

While Tremble never seized the tight end one job up in South Bend, Indiana he was always a contributor and team player. Tremble was a scout team player as a true freshman before serving as the tight end two for the next two seasons. The reason why that’s important is that it shows teams he doesn’t mind playing a specific role. A lot of kids want instant gratification and think they deserve everything now but Tremble isn’t one of those kids.

Drafting Tremble doesn’t give the Chargers a top tight end right away, the ceiling is very high for him as a pass-catching tight end. Tight end is becoming a bigger part of the NFL game with each passing season. Drafting a player with the size and athleticism of Tremble will be enticing for many NFL front offices.
