Saints: Terrace Marshall Jr. the ideal threat opposite Michael Thomas
By Cory Kinnan
Scouting report continued
Separation (21.5/25)
Marshall has a great deal of long speed over the top of the defense, proving to be an effective deep threat. Showing the ability to win both from the slot and outside the numbers, Marshall can efficiently beat press-man coverage, effectively working back overtop of defensive backs, stacking them. When facing press-man coverage, Marshall earns a clean release off the line of scrimmage with his savvy footwork, refusing to waste movement there and at the top of his routes.
Ball tracking/body control (13.25/15)
Displaying awareness around the boundary, either the sideline or the back of the endzone, Marshall Jr. is well-equipped to get a foot inbounds. When taking the top off of the defense, Marshall Jr. is an efficient ball tracker, seemingly always finding his way underneath of deep launches. He does a fantastic job at making sure he squares his shoulders to the football before going up to get the ball at the catchpoint.
YAC Ability (7.5/10)
Marshall shows the ability to make one open-field move in order to work down the field with the ball in his hands. While his change of direction is effective for the length he possesses, Marshall still struggles to get his hips turned in the open field. His best bet in winning after the catch is with an electric one-cut, then turning on the jets. His acceleration is exceptional, and his vision to read his blockers after the catch makes him a dynamic playmaker with the football in his hands.
