What could Bears expect out of Mills?

Expect him to be drafted in the middle rounds and nowhere near the first round of the draft. It will take him some time to get used to the game speed and learn at the next level. We may not see Mills on the NFL field as a starter for several years. He has a lot to learn and needs to gain some arm accuracy and strength, which could be due to a mechanics issue due to a lack of playing time.

Mills is a super project through his athletic abilities could speed that up a little bit and put him in line for a solid backup role early on in his career. If he can find the right system early on in his career there is a chance he turns into a solid NFL player one day.

If he ends up in a system where he fails there may not be a strong chance we ever see Mills as a starter at the next level. He is worth the late-round pick for any team who will have a quarterback question around 2023/2024, by then he could be ready and will have had enough time in a system to learn and adjust.

The projection for Mills is to become a day-two pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and a team that fits the need is the Bears. After missing out on a top pick and landing with Dalton, this could be the avenue to pursue for Nagy, Pace, and company.
