Bears 2021 NFL Draft Primer with hopes of upgrading the offense
Team needs for Bears
Need One: Quarterback
Andy Dalton is not good enough to pass on a quarterback if the opportunity presents itself. Picking at 20, the odds that one of the top-5 quarterbacks falls to Chicago are slim. It’s likely that all of the top quarterbacks go within the top-10, so the Bears would have to trade up if they really want a quarterback. After four years of Mitchell Trubisky, the Bears move onto Andy Dalton, and the team might realize the gap between them isn’t very big. Quarterback is the biggest need for this team until they get a young player to start for them.
Need Two: Cornerback
After cutting Kyle Fuller, the Bears cornerback room is barren and is in desperate need of a talent injection. Even with the Desmond Trufant signing, the Bears need to get a player that can stay healthy and isn’t anywhere near the age of Trufant. Luckily for the team, this is a very good cornerback class and they sit in perfect range to draft a talented cornerback in the first round.
Need Three: Offensive Tackle
Much like the cornerback class, this offensive tackle class is phenomenal. Chicago can comfortably sit at pick 20 and get an offensive tackle that can start on day one. After releasing Bobby Massey, there is a big hole at right tackle that needs addressing. Everyone saw how poor Andy Dalton played under pressure last year, so getting a good offensive line in front of him should be a major priority.
