Jaguars 2021 NFL Draft primer as Trevor Lawrence era begins
Top targets for Jaguars in 2021 NFL Draft
Target One: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
This should not be a draft target. Trevor Lawrence should already be considered a Jaguars inside the team buildings in Jacksonville. He isn’t perfect, but his upside is clearly the best in the class. This is a special prospect, and the Jaguars are in good hands with him at the helm. Getting him into an offense with the weapons that are already in Jacksonville should make fans and coaches salivate.
Target two: Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State
At 25, Pat Freiermuth might be considered a slight reach, but he is becoming overlooked in the 2021 NFL Draft class. Kyle Pitts is the talk of the draft, but Freiermuth is just as reliable. He might not offer the same explosiveness or upside, but if the Jaguars want a receiving tight end who can be a security blanket for Trevor Lawrence, Freiermuth is their guy. Also, he isn’t too bad of a blocker either.
Target Three: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU
Trevon Moehrig is the only safety in the 2021 NFL Draft who is worth a first-round pick. Jacksonville can spend pick 25 on him and no one should be upset. Moehrig can play single high, split field, and in the slot. He is athletic and can cover the whole field with his range. If the Jaguars want to continue overhauling their secondary, Moehrig might be the guy to do it with.
